The founder of the St. John Science Museum, Mr. James Hood, taught science at the High School in St. John until retirement. He started the Museum as a learning center to continue teaching what he calls "hands-on science." Mr. Hood has been awarded the Kansas State Teacher of the Year Award and is enshrined in the Kansas Teacher's Hall of Fame. The Museum is a trove of information and exhibits relating to the Industrial Revolution. Covering everything from Loadstone to Fiber Optics it is all explained here. The Museum is set up in a manner that allows the visitor to see and interact with all the major discoveries of the Industrial Revolution and understand how these discoveries make possible the world we live in. The museum is open "By Appointment" only, but Mr. Hood urges, "Dont let that keep you away! Call today and come see the AMAZING EXHIBITS!" On the walls of the Science Museum is a photographic gallery of citizens from Stafford County who have served in the armed forces back to the Civil War.
