Venue: Osage City Fair Grounds & Market Street
Telephone Number: 785.528.3963

Event Description:

Traditionally, the fair and parade were held towards the end of August.   However, in recent years, the dates have floated.  The 2014 parade and fair are being held earlier than normal -- June 26-28, 2014.

The long-time festivities kick off  with a Chamber of Commerce parade down Market Street, beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26. The 2014 theme CELEBRATE LAKE FEVER!  in recognition of Pomona Lake's 50th year.  Osage County has two federal lakes:  Pomona Lake and Melvern Lake.  So there's lots to celebrate!    Let’s reach the challenge of involving churches, organizations, schools, city, businesses, care facilities, sports groups, and families.    Let’s match the beauty,  detail, and creativeness  of the floats of the 1960-80s.

The parade will begin at 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 10, 2014.  Floats are judged prior to the parade and banners are carried announcing the winners of several categories.  To enter a float contact Nancy Washburn 785.528.3337

The carnival is back in town!   Take advantage of a great  opportunity offered by the Fair Board.   Youth wrist bands are available and can be purchased  at an early-bird special price  Also, the wrist bands can be purchased at the midway.   Presales and additional info:   Stromgren's Greenhouse, 785.528.4644.

Lions' Club  Food Stand is always a draw with hamburgers and homemade pies!  The first night be prepared to stand in line a loooong time...but hey,  the carnival is within eye sight, so you can watch generations of families stroll, or maybe run, past.  Never a lack of fun chatter and laughter under the Lions Club shelter!    OH, ohhh, and you have to remember breakfast in the mornings!   You just gotta'.  The fresh air, the aroma of pancakes fresh from the griddle!  Bacon sizzlin'.  Coffee brewin'.  Syrup stickin' on the picnic tables!  The Lions are there early, when dew  settles on the tables!  Oh, it's all so fun!
PS:  THANKS D.M. for bringing it to my attention that the date had not be updated to June 26-28 for 2014.
