Ben S. Paulen

Former Kansas Senator and Governor.

Gold Dust Hotel

One of the most photographed buildings on the southeast corner of the downtown square is the historic Gold Dust Hotel. Opened in 1885, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Historical Homes

Among many other places of interest, Fredonia has some historical homes that have been nicely preserved!

Old Mill Dam

The scenic Old Mill Dam is now part of the Fredonia electrical plant and mill dam park. It is located south on 3rd Street one mile to Golf Course, then west on gravel road one mile.

The Bandstand

Built by the WPA in 1932, the bandstand is located on the southwest corner of the downtown square.

The Clock Tower

View clockworks through the windows and watch as the antique mechanism chimes for every hour!

The Historic Fredonia Town Square

Many of the buildings on the downtown square were built in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Some have been restored while others have seen better days. Regardless, there is much rich history and architecture preserved in these buildings.

Veteran's Memorial

Wilson County Historical Society Museum

Located on the east side of the square, the museum is housed in the former Wilson County jail and Sheriff's residence built in 1915.
