About this Exploration:

Lake
Wabaunsee is a wonderful recreational lake and community to call home, vacation or just visit!  This spring-fed lake cannot be matched for its spectacular view and hospitality in the Flint Hills of Wabaunsee County, Kansas.  Only a mere 45 minutes from Topeka, Manhattan, Emporia and Council Grove.

The Lake is host to two terrific restaurants, bait shop, church, community infrastructure and a soon-to-be completed 9-hole golf course.  Wabaunsee Pines Golf Course is a beautiful golf course that has been built with determination and hard-work by ALL volunteers and donations!  Native stone and plants of the prairie are incorporated into the greens of the golfers’ delight.

Birds on Water

Be sure to take part in several lake attractions like fishing, boating, skiing, sailing, jet skiing, canoe/kayaking, bird watching, ice skating.  You also won’t want to miss the 4th of July Community Fireworks!

The City of Eskridge purchased the property that is now Lake Wabaunsee in 1937.  Although Lake Wabaunsee is a well-known recreation area with a placid appearance today, it was not developed without the usual turbulence of politics, financing and lack of total support that accompanies almost every public project in the course of civic progress. It had its oddities of the times just as every other generation has experienced them, before and after. While visiting the lake you will see the remnants of military influence; prisoner of war barracks have been renovated into quaint lakeside cabins and the dormitory for army personnel is now the Northshore Restaurant.

Come visit and you’ll be hooked on this quiet spot in the Flint Hills that we guarantee you will enjoy!
